The Chamber Music Society at UCSF is a student-run organization that creates opportunities for UCSF musicians to form chamber music ensembles and deliver outreach performances. The Society encourages students and residents to share their artistic talents through free concerts at UCSF, as well as through outreach and benefit performances at local healthcare organizations such as rehabilitation and hospice care facilities. The Society organizes sight-reading sessions every month for musicians to form longitudinal chamber music groups, and helps them prepare for performances at the end of each semester. In addition, the Society also aims to engage with other UCSF artistic organizations to explore the intersection of music and medicine, as well as the role of art in the pursuit of healing.
