UCSF Dermatology Summer Research Award
The UCSF Department of Dermatology welcomes applications from medical students interested in doing an 8-week summer research fellowship with a faculty mentor in the department. The project may be a new or ongoing project in dermatology, and can be in any area of dermatology (basic science, epidemiology, population research, health policy, medical dermatology, pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, procedural dermatology, medical education, outcomes research, etc.). The research award amount is $3500. Funding may be utilized for housing, travel/ transportation, meeting registration, meeting travel, and research resources. An additional $1000 will be granted to non-UCSF medical students to cover the costs of travel to/from San Francisco. Students who are underrepresented in medicine(UIM)* # are encouraged strongly to apply. Students who do not have a dermatology department at their medical school are also encouraged to apply for this research award.
Tentative Schedule for the 2016-2017 Academic Year
[X] MS4 interviewing session: Current UCSF Derm residents share advice on interviews. (Note: this session was limited to students applying in the current cycle)
[X] MS1 Student Activities Fair: Current members of the DIG help welcome the new MS1 class and provide information about DIG events and resources.
[X] MS2 Near-peer advising session for Step 1 preparation.
[X] Subspecialist Panel: UCSF Derm faculty discuss career pathways in subspecialties of Dermatology, including Pediatric Dermatology, Medical Dermatology, and Clinical Research.
[X] DIG Mentorship Program: Recruitment and matching of mentor-mentee pairs.
[X] Annual Meet and Greet with students, residents, and faculty members.
[X] Rising MS3 Dermatology Advising and Near-peer advising for clinical program/rotation planning.
[X] The preclinical Introduction to Dermatology Elective begins in the Winter quarter.
[X] Rising MS4 Dermatology Advising session.
Post-Match Panel: Students that applied in Dermatology will share advice on the application and interview process.
